The Polytechnic Years: it's late summer in 1985 and after failing to get enough A Level points to get to Aston University in Birmingham, Nosher's back at Brockenhurst College to do re-sits. Not for long though, as it's a somewhat depressing experience as everyone else has moved on, so after a bit of clearing, a place at Plymouth Polytechnic turns up. A brief visit, about a week before term starts, and the place on the BA Business Studies (BABS) degree course is confirmed. It's a four-year sandwich course, running from 1985 to 1989.

Not long after starting, Nosher volunteers to help out with typing and layout at Fly - the student newspaper/magazine. This swiftly leads to taking photos for the magazine, and ends up with Nosher as official Students' Union photographer during 1986 and early 1987, during the editorial reigns of Mark Wilkins and then Ian Dunwoody. There's then a year out working in Norwich, and a partial return to SU photography during late 1988 and 1989. However, the I&CO - Pete Larsen - is much more frugal with the photography expenses and has his own people, so there's much less SU photography during this time - and what there was was mostly on lost black-and-white film.
