It is based in San Diego in California. Qualcomm purchased Cambridge start-up Trigenix in 2004, for its mobile-phone user interface technology, which became UIOne. Shortly after the aquisition, the new Qualcomm Cambridge moved from its offices on Cambridge Business Park across Milton Road to the Science Park, where it set up nice new offices near the lake in the middle of the park. Qualcomm was also generous with travel, with Nosher doing around eight trips to San Diego - many on Virgin Upper Class - and other trips including Kansas City, San Francisco and Nanjing Despite its efforts, UIOne failed to catch on in the same way as Android would a few years later - it was perhaps just a bit too ahead of its time - but it did appear in handsets from O2 and Telecom Italia, amongst others.
