The first year's rides were all to the Six Bells in Gislingham - a return trip of about 14 miles. It was always about the pubs rather than the lycra. The group expanded rapidly and became a firm fixture on Thursday nights between early April and September, with an annual weekend away to places such as Thaxtead, Lenham, Dover/Calais and Rutland Water, a first charity bike ride in 1996 and later on several long-distance charity rides to the Suffolk coast and back. The Swan eventually closed due to retirement in the summer of 2017, and in common with so many pubs did not find a buyer and was eventually sold as a house. The BSCC remains in spirit, with a few of the former regulars keeping the dream alive.
