title The SYWO at Holbrook, and the Adam and Eve, Norwich - 1st April 2026 intro Fred's residential at the Royal Hospital School with the Suffolk Youth Wind Band finishes up with a performance at the school, but luckily rather than the impressive but cave-like chapel, it's in the newly-refurbished assembly hall, which provides an infinitely better experience. The next day, we're back at the Norfolk and Norwich for Isobel's weekly appointment, but this week's timing gives us a bit of time for a walk around afterwards. Isobel fancies a look down by the river, so for a change we park up by the Adam and Eve, walk down to Cow Tower and around to the Cathedral, and finish off with a pint of Guinness Zero in the Adam and Eve itself - a place not visited since around 1995. The pub also has a few photos of old Norwich on walls, which are duly "pinched". imgp6834 The new venue: The Royal Hospital School hall imgp6836 A pair of cellos wait for the Suffolk Young Strings imgp6841 There's an impressive model of a Japanese ironclad imgp6842 An Ocean of Tears art installation imgp6845 A close-up of An Ocean of Tears imgp6854 The Royal Hospital School at night imgp6855 The RHS's main entrance imgp6857 Victorian park gates by the Wensum imgp6858 Isobel looks at paddlers on the Wensum imgp6860 An impressive new-ish bridge over the river imgp6862 The paddlers continue down the river imgp6865 England's last Swan Pit imgp6867 Cow Tower and some late daffodils imgp6871 A herringbone fireplace in Cow Tower imgp6872 Inside the mediaeval Cow Tower imgp6878 There's a swan on the nest imgp6880 Isobel wanders down to look at Bishopsgate Bridge imgp6884 Norwich Cathedral across the old rugby pitches imgp6886 Pull's Ferry on the Wensum imgp6890 There's a dinosaur in a false window imgp6891 Isobel walks up towards the Cathedral Close imgp6896 An impressive house from 1662 imgp6898 The cathedral from the Close imgp6900 Some sort of modern art imgp6901 Norman arches and a very non-Norman clock imgp6902 Isobel pokes her head into the cloisters imgp6905 More modern art, in the cloisters imgp6906 A view of the tower from the oldest end imgp6910 Isobel outside the Adam and Eve imgp6912 Isobel ducks to enter the pub imgp6915 The side room at the Adam and Eve imgp6916 Isobel finishes her Guinness Zero imgp6917 The unchanged-from-the-80s Adam and Eve imgp6920 The tramlines are dug up in around 1935 imgp6922 Norwich's Castle Meadow in the 1940s imgp6923 Norwich market and the Guildhall in the late 1920s imgp6924 The bar of the Adam and Eve imgp6926 Norwich market and St. Peter Mancroft imgp6929 The Adam and Eve - Norwich's oldest pub
