title Mudeford Quay, Christchurch, and the Trip to Portland - 15th April 2025 intro It's the second full day down in New Milton, and Sean's arranged to meet up with Phil round his mother's house for a late breakfast, which Nosher has been roped into cooking. First stop is therefore Morrisons in New Milton to pick up some breakfast supplies, followed by a quick trip to Mudeford Quay for a walk around as a way to kill a bit more time. After brunch - which has somehow turned from us plus Phil and his mum to about thirty additional people - we have another walk around Christchurch before heading back to New Milton to catch a train down to Weymouth, where Hannah picks us up from the station before we finally get a well-earned couple of pints in the 18th-century George Inn, just around the corner from Hannah's house in Portland. imgp1586 New Milton's KFC has closed down imgp1588 1970s shops on Station Road imgp1589 Fagans Menswear - another relic from the past imgp1591 A former teahouse is up for rent imgp1592 Station Road in New Milton imgp1593 Cool 1930s door in Elm Avenue imgp1595 Funky graffiti art near the bowling club imgp1597 More wall art on the indoor bowling club imgp1598 New Milton's War Memorial Hall imgp1599 A derelict house on Whitefield Road imgp1600 A view down Whitefield Road imgp1601 New Milton's iconic water tower imgp1602 Mudeford Quay and Hengistbury Head imgp1607 Various lobster pots on Mudeford Quay imgp1610 Fishing detritus on the Quay imgp1611 Nice cottages on Mudeford Quay imgp1612 A swan floats around by a slipway imgp1615 A couple of people do crabbing over the sea wall imgp1617 The fishing motor boat Gastronaught goes past imgp1619 Mudeford lifeboat station imgp1620 Tiny tenders on the quay imgp1621 A bunch of training dinghies imgp1622 A dinghy mast has seen better days imgp1624 Chris and Bernice potter around in the kitchen imgp1625 Sean looks around after a late breakfast imgp1627 Christchurch Priory imgp1629 The very-1920s Regent theatre imgp1631 Saxon Square - opened in 1983 imgp1635 Milhams Street in Christchurch imgp1636 The ducking stool on Ducking Stool Lane imgp1640 The remains of Norham Castle imgp1641 Sean walks alongside Mill Stream imgp1643 There's another whale tail by the river imgp1644 A seagull gives it some attitude imgp1645 Sean on Quay Road, near the Red House Museum imgp1646 A train for London pulls in to New Milton imgp1648 Waiting for a train at New Milton imgp1649 Funky bird art at Pokesdown imgp1653 We change trains at Bournemouth imgp1654 Trains on the platform at Bournemouth Station imgp1655 Down on platform 3 imgp1656 Light shines through the station windows imgp1657 An old Southern Railway mile post imgp1658 Sean checks his phone on the train imgp1659 Some more station wall art imgp1660 A glimpse of Poole Harbour imgp1662 Sean hauls his luggage around at Weymouth Station imgp1665 A nicely-painted traffic-light control box imgp1666 More painted street cabinets imgp1668 A nice Victorian beach shelter at Weymouth imgp1675 A view of Weymouth's river imgp1677 We pick up some supplies for dinner imgp1678 It's time for a beer in a proper old booozer imgp1679 Sean checks the beers out imgp1681 At the bar of the George Inn in Easton, Portland imgp1682 Hannah and Sean in the 18th century George Inn imgp1683 There's a lot of carved graffiti on the table
