title Palgrave Players and the Opening of the Museum, Diss - 15th March 2025 intro Isobel and the Palgrave Players are in Diss to participate in the opening of Diss Museum for its 2025 season, along with a small crowd in 1940s period dress and the Gislingham Variety Club singing 1940s songs - all on account of it being the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII. It's also the 50th anniversary of the museum itself, the the former curator comes along to do a speech. Before that, it's the first ride of the year across the airfield to the Mellis Railway, and there's another ride to Gislingham and back. Also, we head up to Brome Village Hall for a meeting about a proposed solar farm, which is planned to take up about 1,500 acres of local farm land. imgp0006 A dead caravan and the new housing estate imgp0008 The sun sets over Eye airfield imgp0016 Mick the Brick heads off across Eye Airfield imgp0017 St. Margaret of Antioch in Thrandeston imgp0018 The road just outside Thrandeston imgp0020 The plantation at Eastlands Lane near Gislingham imgp0025 Fred's got a copper lampshade on his head imgp0026 Isobel and Suey look at solar farm plans imgp0030 There's a meeting about the solar farm in Brome imgp0688 Construction of the new Aldi continues imgp0692 Isobel and the Palgrave Players are by the Mere imgp0695 Suzanne, Cathal and Isobel imgp0696 Doug waves around a Betsy Ross US flag imgp0698 The parade heads off up Mere Street imgp0702 More people in 1940s gear imgp0704 The Palgrave Players imgp0708 The head of the parade outside Flour and Bean imgp0720 Cathal and the gang outside Diss Discount imgp0722 Isobel waves on the way past imgp0725 There's a brief interaction with the Gaza demo imgp0729 A Spiv shows off a collection of watches imgp0730 Joined flags on the marketplace imgp0741 A bearded dude with a Union flag on a rake imgp0745 The parade assembles on the Market Place imgp0766 The Gislingham Variety Club do some singing imgp0771 Palgrave Players in black and white imgp0779 Suzanne and Cathal do a bit of jiving imgp0807 More WWII singing from Gislingham Variety Club imgp0814 The view from behind Doug's flag imgp0819 A patriotic sausage dog imgp0831 Cathal with a kit bag imgp0841 The unfeasibly-tall former curator of the museum imgp0848 The former curator does a speech imgp0851 A pair of scissors is wielded around imgp0857 The 2025 Season of the museum is officially open imgp0871 Diss Museum, in the former Shambles imgp0880 A Home Guard soldier has a ciggie imgp0892 An RAF type shares a cigarette with the Home Guard imgp0897 Cathal with the bearded dude imgp0909 Isobel and the gang do a photo by the truck imgp0916 The US Army truck on the Market Place imgp0919 Cathal and his bag head back up Mere Street imgp0923 We stop for a drink in Flour and Bean imgp0926 Isobel in 1940s gear in Morissons
