title The Demolition of Park Road, Diss, Norfolk - 1st February 2025 intro Large parts of the area along Park Road in Diss are being - or have recently been - demolished, including the feather factory, which is rapidly turning into a new Aldi and car park, and John Grose - formerly Mereside Ford, Sheffield Garner and Chitty's before that - where it's now possible to see the view across the Mere to the church, which hasn't been visible from that location for decades. Then we go for a short walk around Eye and check up on Anita-tree - the walnut from our garden which Isobel planted in memory of a late friend. We even stop for a pint in the Queen's Head, which at that time of day isn't too full of swearing, at least in the Cross Street bar. imgc20250131_215701 Harry's playing pool at the village hall imgp0115 The old feather factory is turned into a supermarket imgp0116 There's activity at Diss Bus Station imgp0118 The remains of John Grose/Sheffield Garner imgp0123 The John Grose overflow car park is dug up imgp0129 The church of St. Mary appears behind the rubble imgp0130 An air-conditioning unit hangs by its cable imgp0132 It's grey and cold at the Mere imgp0134 A load of pigeons and doves huddle imgp0135 A soggy Mere Street imgp0138 Butchered pigs in the back of a delivery van imgp0139 The Mere floods up to the benches imgp0140 The last remains of John Grose imgp0143 Isobel looks at Anita-tree imgp0147 Balls of mistletoe imgp0148 Curious clubbed trees in the Town Moor woods imgp0152 Isobel wanders past a very-derelict bungalow imgp0156 The stop/start house rebuild is going again imgp0157 A nice thatched house beneath Eye Castle imgp0159 The River Dove is fairly liveley at the moment imgp0160 Straight rows of winter wheat imgp0161 We walk to the back of Ash Drive in Eye imgp0162 It's still Christmas near Mick the Brick's house imgp0163 Isobel interacts with a cat imgp0164 The Cross Street bar in the Queen's Head, Eye imgp0165 Isobel looks out of the window in the Queen's Head imgp0166 A legacy of the olden days: Smoke Room
