title The BSCC at The Lion, Debenham, Suffolk - 2nd May 2024 intro The remains of the Brome Swan Cycle Club does what must be a first - a ride to a new pub. Well, not new as such as the pub itself dates from 1463, but it had been closed since at least when the BSCC started in 1995. However, it's been recently renovated and re-opened, in a nice, although sadly rare, antidote to what seems like a constant litany of pub closures. We make our way on the twelve-mile ride to Debenham via a slightly unusual route, thanks to Gaz's navigating of the lesser-known roads, and return more-or-less the same way, albeit via a ford - another thing not encountered for a while, at least not since Suey got tipped off her bike into a ford during the Theberton Camping trip in 2002. Before that, we're at the KS4 awards evening at Hartismere School, where Fred's up for a music award, then we head up to the lake at Weybread Pits for a poke around. imgp0002 Fred gets a music award imgp0003 Wandering the sports-hall corridors imgp0004 Isobel slurps some elderflower cordial imgp0005 Harry's messing around with his backpack imgp0007 Isobel, Phil and Gaz on the road to Redlingfield imgp0008 The fancy new "wellness barn" at Redlingfield imgp0009 The Boy Phil and Gaz imgp0010 Every tree has a silver lining imgp0013 Gaz gets the first pint in at the Lion imgp0014 The Boy Phil checks out a tiny snug imgp0015 Phil wanders around as Gaz is at the bar imgp0016 The former Angel pub, across the road imgp0017 There's a nice Wisteria house on the main road imgp0018 Gaz, Isobel and Phil outside The Lion in Debenham imgp0019 Gaz shows a local something on his phone imgp0020 A car comes over the top of High Street imgp0021 We cycle up the aptly-named Water Lane ford imgp0024 We're in the Beaky again, with the huge dog imgp1785 Egyptian Geese and a gosling by the lake imgp1787 Isobel has a coffee imgp1788 Nice little white flowers imgp1789 Isobel gets a close-up photo imgp1792 A carpet of tiny white flowers imgp1793 Isobel has a little paddle in the lake
