title Painting the Set at the Village Hall, Garboldisham, Norfolk - 8th November 2023 intro The car is due for a service, so we drop it off at Desira in the morning only to discover that there isn't a courtesy car. It's a long walk home, so instead we walk into Diss, have a bit of cake in Flour & Bean, then do the shopping in Morrisons, at which point Isobel walks back to get the car. Then, we're off to the village hall at Garboldisham to help paint the set for the forthcoming Palgrave Players production of The Baker's Wife. There's a lot to do as the previous attempt at a backdrop had to be painted over. For a few days, there's just the two of us, but on the Saturday there's a much bigger turnout from the rest of the cast to help out. imgc0123 An abandoned car dealership in Diss imgc0124 We drop the car off for a service at Desira imgc0125 The old Midwich offices on Gilray Road imgc0126 We head off to town via the back estates imgc0128 We find a load of chickens roaming around imgc0129 The old Warwick Shubrook/Kerridges in Diss imgc0130 Euro Foods has closed up shop imgc0131 There's a pigeon explosion over Mere Street imgc0132 Superdrug needs a bit of upstairs work doing imgc0133 The old Bar 13, now a pawn shop imgp0134 Barclays Bank is closed, and is now just "Bank" imgp8822 Fred's pumpkin is eating its baby imgp8829 Frankenpump - another of Fred's pumpkins imgp8831 Garboldisham's impressive village hall imgp8833 A view of the East Harling road at Garboldisham imgp8835 We arrive on the stage, where there's lots to do imgp8836 Isobel surveys a blank canvas imgp8840 Isobel starts on painting a bedroom scene imgp8842 St. John the Baptist at Garboldisham imgp8843 The giant village hall at Garboldisham imgp9211 There are a lot more helpers on the Saturday imgp9213 The stage is busy with painting imgp9217 Isobel takes a break imgp9219 Garboldisham church at night
