title The BSCC at the Cock Inn and a Flute Exam, Bedfield, Suffolk - 25th August 2023 intro The BSCC - Nosher, Phil and Paul - are out on the Thursday bike ride, however it starts raining so after hiding under the trees in Palgrave we cut it short a bit and decide on Ampserand Tap via the first stop in years at the Cock Inn on Fair Green in Diss. Before that, it's Fred's Grade Six flute exam, which is done online via a videoed submission from the flute teacher's house in Bedfield - site of many a previous BSCC bike ride to the nearby Crown pub, which is now sadly closed following the retirement of the landlord. Whilst we're waiting, Nosher and Harry go for a walk - past the old pub - to see St. Nicholas's Church and the gorgeous 15th-century Bedfield Hall, built on a 9th-century site. imgp6166 The sad remains of the Bedfield Crown imgp6169 A cool old diesel pump in a farmyard imgp6170 St. Nicholas' Church, Bedfield imgp6175 In the nave of St. Nicholas, Bedfield imgp6176 The church's Mediaeval rood screen imgp6177 Looking back down the nave to the covered font imgp6179 The ledger stone of Thomas Dunston, 1657 imgp6180 Harry roams around outside the church imgp6182 There's a nice view over the fields imgp6184 The lovely 15th-Century Bedfield Hall imgp6186 Harry looks at some impressive bamboo imgp6189 Another look at the former Bedfield Crown imgp6190 A fading sign for the old pub imgp6191 Part of an old lawnmower sits in a lawn imgp6193 The old council offices in Eye are done up imgp6197 Harry checks out the fridge in the kebab shop imgp6198 Looking down Magdalene Street in Eye imgp6199 Fred peers out from the door of the kebab shop imgp0018 Paul and Phil on the road in Palgrave imgp0020 Phil waits for the rain to pass imgp0021 We hide out from the rain under the trees imgp0023 The grim dentist next to the Cock Inn in Diss imgp0024 We head into the Cock Inn imgp0026 Paul and Phil discuss the issues of the day imgp0028 In the Cock Inn, Diss imgp0029 In Ampersand's car park - Mid Anglia pub of the year
