title National Grid Pylon Upgrades, Thrandeston, Suffolk - 30th July 2023 intro The several-year-long project to add a third wire to each phase of the National Grid pylons which run up to Norwich finally makes it up to Thrandeston, so it's interesting to cycle over to have a look at people climbing all over pylons - at least some phases of which are still live, according to the crackling which can be heard, and which are a good 30 or 40 metres high. Before that, there are a few random phone camera photos, the earliest of which is back in March for Harry's birthday. There's also a recent trip to the Burston Crown, which sadly seems to becoming a food-only pub as it only ever has one beer on and it's always something normal like Adnams. There's nothing wrong with Adnams, but it's everywhere so not worth a special bike ride. img_20230328_172211881 Back in March, it's Harry's birthday img_20230509_082017074 Lucy Cat wants to play Harry's Bey Blade img_20230510_135618774_hdr The materials for the patio project arrives img_20230514_193619751 Fred tries to help down a cat up a tree img_20230514_194155380_hdr There's a cat high up a tree imgp0022 The Boy Phil at the Burston Crown's bar imgp0031 There's a crescent moon over the chamomile field imgp0032 Harry roams around in the garden imgp5012 There's a working gantry attached to the pylon imgp5016 A dude looks up at some new insulators imgp5021 The pylon as a work in progress imgp5024 Meanwhile, a spare cable reel is loaded onto a lorry imgp5025 The pylon upgrade site imgp5034 Someone dangles on a ladder by the insulators imgp5041 Working at great height on a live pylon imgp5045 The salt dome at Suffolk Highways' Brome depot img_20230730_201545501 The SYWO tour bus returns to Northgate
