title BSCC Rides and the Village Fete, Brome, Suffolk - 8th July 2023 intro As Harry pointed out last year, the absence of the circumflex on the spelling of the word FĂȘte on all the posters for the village fĂȘte leaves open the possibility of pronouncing the word as Feet, and so it has become known as the village Feet ever since, although perhaps not by anyone else, anywhere. This year, Nosher and Fred are helping out on the bottle stall, a fixture which proves particularly popular. Before that, the remains of the BSCC is out at Botesdale and then Mellis, and Nosher tries to get over to Southwold, where Harry and Isobel are doing Karate Kamp. Unfortunately, some sort of giant drawing pin gets stuck in one of the car's tyres, which means abandoning the trip and trying to find somewhere to repair it. imgp0002 The patio project continues imgp0003 Mick sits at his favourite spot on the airfield imgp0005 Old train seats in the Mellis Railway imgp0006 Nosher's pint on the bar at the Railway Tavern imgp0008 One of the cats has left pawprints in the concrete imgp0011 The four raised beds are done, and the shed is up imgp0013 Paul's at the bar at the Botesdale Greyhound imgp0014 Paul and Phil in the Greyhound imgp0016 We hang around outside the Greyhound imgp0018 A nice house on Botesdale Street imgp0019 An ancient Fish and Chip shop sign imgp0020 Paul exits the pub's car park imgp0021 The derelict water tower at New Waters farm imgp0026 Phil and Paul on the level crossing at Mellis imgp4716 We stop for a quick beer at the Oaksmere imgp4718 There's a house on a trailer at Heveningham imgp4719 Fred helps distribute the floats at the fete imgp4720 The raffle is set up imgp4722 Flowers in the flower-arranging competition imgp4723 A US-Army Jeep outside the new Brome Hall imgp4725 There's a stall of randomness imgp4729 A Dutch street organ is at the end of the drive imgp4731 Fred's helping out on the bottle stall imgp4733 A tiny pony does the rounds imgp4736 There's some sort of dog race about to kick off imgp4738 An egg and spoon and dog race occurs imgp4743 Apple John hangs around with a dog imgp4751 An announcement is made after the dog race imgp4753 The vicar hangs around imgp4754 The bottle stall proves to be popular imgp4768 The Hoxon Hundred do some Morris dancing imgp4774 Morris dancing outside Brome Hall imgp4784 Fred and the whole village is in the tug o' war imgp4785 The other team gets ready for the next pull imgp4789 Fred really gets into it imgp4795 A raffle ticket is picked imgp4798 The next winning ticket is read out imgp4799 The Jeep trundles off up Brome Hall's drive imgp4800 Another ticket is picked imgp4804 We help pack up the marquee imgp4808 Sarah with her flower arrangement
