title Forest Park Camping and a Walk to Cromer, Northrepps, Norfolk - 10th June 2023 intro It's a return to Forest Park campsite, just outside Cromer on the North Norfolk Coast. We're only there for a couple of nights, the first of which involves a few games of Bingo down at the campsite's clubhouse. We miss out on getting tickets for the legendary Meat Raffle later on, but we do enter a quiz and finish a respectable mid table. The next day, we head off on a long but satisfying walk from the site to Cromer - it's only about three miles away, but it's a hard-enough walk along the clifftop. Once we get to Cromer, we stop off at the Red Lion at East Cliff for a pre-fish-and-chip beer. The pub/hotel is a revelation in that it has a staggering nine real ales on, and would have had ten if one hadn't run out. After that, there's a 1960s festival down at the pier, and then we're back in the clubhouse, where there's a singer with a backing track doing her thing. On the last morning, after we've packed up and left the site, we stop at West Runton beach so Fred can look for belemnites. The tide's in though, so there's not much to be found. Before all of that, on Thursday, the BSCC - Nosher, The Boy Phil and Paul - cycle out to the Fighting Cocks at Winfarthing, with a stop at Ampersand Tap on the way back. imgp0070 Paul and Phil in the Fighting Cocks imgp0071 Paul gets the beers in imgp0074 We head off back towards Diss imgp0077 The old Green Dragon pub, near Winfarthing imgp0078 Road Closed, except where it isn't imgp0080 Paul checks his phone in Ampersand Tap imgp4296 Fred says hello to Tilly Dog imgp4297 Harry and Grace are playing bingo imgp4299 Grace and Fred do a bit of Stick Game imgp4301 The rest of the gang appear imgp4305 Soph the Roph and Fred trudge off to do washing up imgp4306 We're in the shop to get some baked products imgp4310 We all head off on the long walk to Cromer imgp4312 Invasive but attractive: rhododendrons on the path imgp4318 We march past the remains of a railway bridge imgp4320 Harry and Fred on Cromer golf course imgp4321 Fred is the Pied Piper imgp4323 There's a path made entirely of shells imgp4324 Harry, Grace and Anna on the shell path imgp4330 Fred sticks his arms up to avoid nettles imgp4333 It's an almost tropical view, from high up imgp4334 The low-rise Cromer lighthouse imgp4335 Aieeee! imgp4339 We pause for a break in a bandstand-like shelter imgp4342 A group photo in the "band stand" imgp4345 It's the final push to Cromer imgp4348 A view of Cromer and the pier imgp4352 Cromer's church and the town's seafront buildings imgp4359 There's a singing duo in a field imgp4364 Fred, Grace and Soph do a bit of a dance imgp4365 A view down to the sea imgp4366 We walk round the back of the Red Lion imgp4368 A Victorian building from 1898 imgp4371 Andrew in the main corridor through the Red Lion imgp4376 The Red Lion has a staggering ten ales on imgp4377 The front bar of the Red Lion in Cromer imgp4379 Harry stands in the sun to warm up imgp4383 Tilly Dog's got a funky hat on imgp4384 Tilly gets some water from a beer barrel imgp4388 Harry and Megan look at a fish tank imgp4392 A phonebox with a phone still in it imgp4394 The impressive Hotel de Paris imgp4395 Cromer Pier imgp4398 A classic Ford Capri imgp4399 A rare 1960s diesel ambulance imgp4400 It's Surfer Soup on Cromer beach imgp4405 Isobel gets some caramelised almonds imgp4406 Inside the 1960s ambulance imgp4408 A lovely Riley Elf imgp4409 Conversation by the sea wall imgp4411 Harry and Isobel scope out a super-cute caravan imgp4413 More classic 60s cars imgp4415 Everyone peers over the promenade wall imgp4421 Anna grabs a bit of flapping bunting imgp4425 Biker boys with mopeds imgp4430 We visit the No. 1 chipper on New Street imgp4432 Fred and Grace wait for our order imgp4435 Fred gets a photo of some cartoon characters imgp4436 Megan and the gang hang around Coast Kebab imgp4441 An old sign for Rose's Gowns and Millinery imgp4442 A Victorian baptist chapel on Church Street imgp4443 Some sort of derelict stage off Overstrand Road imgp4445 It's a classic: an abandoned shopping trolley imgp4449 Isobel hangs out by our pitch imgp4453 Forest Park's clubhouse imgp4455 It's busy in the clubhouse bar imgp4456 Isobel and Tilly Dog imgp4464 Tilly's got another hat on, and gets a cuddle imgp4466 There's a derelict petrol station at West Runton imgp4469 A very-wrecked petrol pump imgp4471 A petrol pump has 4-star LRP petrol on it imgp4472 Some sort of dodgy home-made car wash setup imgp4479 Isobel's found a Thing on West Runton beach imgp4482 Harry's found a small geode in a flint pebble imgp4490 Water Mill Lane in West Runton imgp4491 Harry on the path back to the car park
