title We Are Detectorists, and a Trip to the Market, Norwich - 25th February 2023 intro Clive's back in the side field having secured permissions for a lightweight session of detecting on the site of the crash in 1943 of B-17 Finger M Mike. This means digging around anywhere where there isn't any chamomile, which is handy as there's quite a large path of bare earth exactly where the rear of the plane ended up. The finds include bits of aluminium plate, some hydraulic pipe, stainless-steel clips and a reasonable number of .50-calibre bullets and casings - the latter of which are all broken apart as the ammunition was cooked in the ensuing fire after the crash. There are even a few bits of plexiglass from various aircraft windows. Later on, Harry's at a birthday party at a trampoline park in Norwich, so we get nearly two hours to wander around the market stalls whilst he bounces around. Before that, Harry's at a coding day at The Bank in Eye, where he programmes a Microbit to drive a robot around, and finally the rebuilding of the formerly-leaking dormer roof in the old bit of the house is complete. img_20230209_114117353_hdr The rebuilt dormer roof takes shape img_20230209_185422621 Fred's latest batch of home-made sushi img_20230213_150409355 Harry shows off his robot at The Bank in Eye img_20230224_161842847_hdr Millie swings around as we dig for aircraft bits img_20230224_162536699_hdr Fred wanders off as more detecting occurs img_20230224_162539805_hdr Harry has a bit of a dig img_20230224_164258901_hdr The investigators on the field b17-fingermmikebrome The original crash site and burned-out airframe imgp0982 Clive finds a stainless steel clip from the plane imgp0992 Some of our finds, including .50-cal bullets imgp0002 Mick's at the bar at the Yaxley Cherry Tree imgp0112 Empty land in Queen Anne's Quarter in Norwich imgp0113 A closed-down kebab shop in King Street imgp0114 Isobel wanders up King Street imgp0115 On Opie Street in Norwich imgp0116 Random street tags imgp0117 A statue of Amelia Opie, on Opie Street imgp0119 A young lad plays some amazing trumpet imgp0121 In the lanes of Norwich Market imgp0122 Isobel browses in the wool shop on the market imgp0124 A quieter lane behind Orient Express imgp0125 A big stack of colourful wool imgp0128 The Cheeseman cheese stall imgp0129 There's a big Ukraine protest outside City Hall imgp0131 People sing for Ukraine imgp0136 More Ukrainian flag waving outside City Hall imgp0142 Isobel looks at plants imgp0143 Lower Goat Lane in Norwich imgp0144 Pottergate - now largely pedestrianised imgp0147 Isobel roams around in St. Gregory's antiques imgp0148 A vintage one-armed bandit imgp0149 A small parking area has been closed off imgp0150 The Tesco Express on Guildhall Hill has gone imgp0151 There's some sort of cosplay going on imgp0152 An amusing shop sign on Gentleman's Walk imgp0154 The view from the scaffolding imgp0156 The roof is finished, complete with re-used gutters imgp0158 Another view from up on the roof
