title The World Cube Association Rubik's Competition, St. Andrew's Hall, Norwich - 31st July 2022 intro It's Rubik's cubes everywhere as we tag along to watch Eliot from Brussells compete in a few rounds of WCA 2022 in St. Andrew's Hall, Norwich. Despite having an average time that's quick enough to qualify, Fred's only been cubing for a few weeks so missed out on entering, but still gets to do some judging for Eliot. The whole thing proves to be quite interesting, and it's nice to be somewhere which is clearly and completely a "safe space for nerds", but it's also a long day as we have to be there for registration before 9 in the morning and don't to escape until Eliot's done the Skewb at nearly 5pm. In between, we escape up to the city for a bit of lunch, and Isobel teaches Harry to solve the standard 3x3. imgp6174 In St. Andrew's car park imgp6176 We walk down St. Andrew's Street imgp6177 A pink dinosaur imgp6180 The boys test out some cube merchandise imgp6182 It's a proper nerd-fest in St. Andrew's imgp6185 A mass of fancy cubes imgp6191 Fred tries a 3x3 cube out imgp6200 The competition kicks off imgp6203 Fred's judging for Eliot imgp6204 Cube muddling is required imgp6208 Fred times the inspection phase imgp6213 3x3 competition action imgp6216 Harry gets himself a "cube" banana imgp6223 A view from the stage imgp6226 One of the organisers does a video of his go imgp6237 11.75 seconds is quite slow as it happens imgp6240 Alice does some judging imgp6244 Time for a sleep imgp6245 Fred is pleased to have solved the apple cube imgp6246 Stained glass in St. Andrew's Hall imgp6247 A poster of Victorian superstar Clara Butt imgp6249 Solving cubes on the stage imgp6255 Everyone's at it imgp6259 A chunky dog drools on the floor imgp6263 Another organisers gets a good time in the 2x2 imgp6281 We head up to the city during the lunch break imgp6284 A pair of K6 phone boxes imgp6286 Fancy Victorian architecture on the Royal Arcade imgp6287 There's more graffiti on the windows of Game imgp6288 White Lion House is still derelict imgp6289 Graffiti on the windows of the old Game shop imgp6290 We eat sushi at Yo! in Chapelfield imgp6291 Harry's got a lemon cube to solve imgp6294 Another dinosaur, in Chapelfield imgp6297 A giraffe-patterned dino outside Chantry Place imgp6299 Eliot climbs the bike racks imgp6300 The big but simple Clarks hoarding is quite striking imgp6301 The door to the defunct Norwich CEYMS imgp6302 Another dinosaur, on Gentlman's Walk imgp6304 Jarrolds has a load of Pride balloons going on imgp6305 Another St. Andrew's Church, in Bridewell imgp6307 The boys pose with their cubes outside St. Andrew's imgp6311 There's a micro-cube challenge imgp6314 The whole family is cubing imgp6318 Eliot gets ready for another round imgp6334 Harry's doing a 3x3 on the stage imgp6336 Two pink dinosaurs imgp6337 Repeated posters on Little London Street imgp6338 It's looks dark over the cat murals imgp6342 3x3 winner Ryan Wu looks around imgp6348 Ryan Wu works on another 6-second solve imgp6354 Out the back of St. Andrew's imgp6355 The cloisters of St. Andrew's Hall imgp6358 Jules looks on as everyone else does some cubing imgp6362 A blur of action for a head-based Go-pro camera imgp6369 Down in the crypts under Blackfriar's Hall imgp6371 Beckett's hall imgp6372 There's been some sort of wedding in Beckett's hall
