title BSCC at Ampersand and Birthday Lego at Jarrold's, Norwich, Norfolk - 25th September 2021 intro Fred's got birthday money burning a hole in his pocket, so we head up to Norwich so he can spend it on even more Lego. Whilst there, we have pizza at Pizza Express on St Benedict's Street, where half the road has been set aside for outdoor seating. It's interesting to sit there and notice details not seen before even after around 32 years of visits and/or living down the road, but then it's the first time it's been possible to actually sit in the middle of the street and look around without being mown down by traffic. Before that, the remains of the BSCC are riding the long-way-round to Ampersand's Tap Room on Sawmills Road in Diss, and Morrison's petrol station has mostly run out on account of the fuel crisis, so they're only letting in the odd key worker or something. imgc8746 There are deer grazing in a stubble field imgc8747 The road to Thornham is getting autumnal imgc8751 Gaz rocks up at the crossroads imgc8752 Paul appears too imgc8753 We head off up the road to Oakley imgc8756 Gaz stomps off towards Billingford imgc8757 Billingford Windmill in the dusk imgc8760 We have a beer at Ampersand's tap room in Diss imgc8762 A cow picture in the Oaksmere's foyer imgc8763 The Oaksmere's foyer is nice and quiet imgc8764 Morrison's petrol station has run out imgc8765 Mere Street in Diss is quite busy imgc8766 Harry and Fred on the platform at Diss imgc8769 Isobel and Fred on the train imgc8770 Harry considers some Mentos imgc8771 The derelict factory in Trowse imgc8772 Fred leaves the train imgc8773 Harry and Isobel roam Riverside in Norwich imgc8774 Wetherspoons - the cockroach of pubs - is busy imgc8775 Paddling on the River Wensum imgc8776 There's a sundial on a house o King's Street imgc8777 The gang on King's Street imgc8778 A former shop or pub imgc8780 Arnolds Keys: a cool 1950s office building imgc8782 Funky art: have a good day imgc8783 The former Handelebanken offices imgc8784 A 1930s building with original windows imgc8785 The boys scope out Lego in Jarrold's imgc8787 A nice Playmobil display in Jarrold's imgc8788 Isobel and Fred in the toy department imgc8789 Fred's chosen some Harry Potter Lego imgc8791 We stop at Pizza Express on St. Benedicts imgc8793 St. Benedict's street has gone all café imgc8796 Isobel scopes the menu as Harry tries the hat imgc8799 Building details: built in 1898 imgc8801 Café society on St. Benedict's imgc8802 Cooke's Pianos is closed for refurbishment imgc8804 Outside Pizza Express on St. Benedict's imgc8808 The zebra crossing by St. Gregory's Alley imgc8809 A closed-down shop has been sprayed "Sekzy" imgc8811 Harry looks at figurines imgc8812 Isobel roams around St. Gregory's antiques imgc8815 Fred looks at insects in perspex imgc8816 A cool glass head imgc8817 Harry looks at more figures imgc8818 A table top made from shotgun cartridges imgc8819 Urban decay in Pottergate imgc8820 Fred hauls his purchases around imgc8821 Thorn's hardware shop imgc8822 Bedford Street from Lobster Lane imgc8823 A stark 80 office block on Bedford Street imgc8824 On the cobbles of Bedford Street imgc8825 The Bang and Olufsen shop has closed down imgc8826 Back at the old Post Office on Prince of Wales imgc8828 The derelict Prince of Wales pub imgc8829 We pass the inventively-named Tasty restaurant imgc8830 The dodgy-looking Sherbet Lemon club imgc8831 There's a giant snake on Mantra restaurant imgc8833 We pass by the Railway Mission imgc8834 Fred looks back on the concourse at Norwich Station imgc8836 We head down the platform to the train imgc8837 Harry waits for the doors as we get to Diss imgc8838 On the platform at Diss station imgc8839 Fred hangs around outside Diss station imgc8840 Within minutes, Fred's started on the Space Shuttle imgc8844 The "Space Shuffle" is almost complete imgc8845 Fred does some sort of grain pounding
