title Open-top Buses and a Day at the Museum, New York, United States - 22nd October 2018 intro It's our first day into Manhattan itself, and we sign up to one of those open-top hop-on-hop-off bus tour things. Our first chosen stop is at the Museum on Natural History on Central Park West, near to the Ghostbusters building and putative location of the film Night at the Museum - a favourite of the boys and thus sepcifically requested by them. After that, we eat a hotdog and then cross over Central Park, via the turtle pond and an ice cream, before re-joining the bus and heading back to mid-town. We then - after some difficultly thanks to lack of mobile signal - meet up with Phil in his office near the top of the Rockerfeller Center, a location with one of the best office-window views ever, before finally getting the subway back to Pen Station and the train back to Millburn. imgc2561 We eat some left-over pizza for breakfast imgc2563 Harry swings about imgc2565 Fred roams the garden imgc2566 Harry and Fred play a bit of "soccer" imgp5452 Leaving Millburn for Penn Station imgp5454 Harry looks glum imgp5455 On the top deck of a double-decker train imgp5458 The boys peer out of the window to see New York imgp5459 Our first view of Manhattan, outside Penn Station imgp5464 An iconic stripey ConEdison steam vent imgp5465 The boys pose with some knock-off cartoon characters imgp5468 A hotdog stand is hauled around imgp5474 A busy 7th Avenue imgp5477 Isobel checks out the map imgp5480 Interesting building detail, on West 43rd and 7th imgp5481 Fruit stall and graffiti imgp5483 Funky bulb sign imgp5485 Statues look out onto the street imgp5488 On Columbus Circle imgp5489 Trump's vulgar edifice imgp5490 Nice old building with lots of balconies imgp5493 A classic school bus imgp5494 The statue of Teddy Roosevelt imgp5495 Cool dinosaur skeleton in the entrance lobby imgp5497 Fred looks at some shells imgp5502 In a dinosaur room imgp5503 The remains of some turtle imgp5505 A nice skeleton of a woolly mammoth imgp5508 A Triceratops fossil skeleton imgp5509 A giant Blue Whale imgp5510 Fred and Harry in the café imgp5514 Fred and Harry on the rocks in Central Park imgp5515 Central Park road imgp5518 A Blue Jay imgp5520 Harry and Fred look out over Central Park imgp5521 Time for ice creams imgp5523 A duck creates a long bow wave imgp5525 Turtles in the pond imgp5527 Harry's not bothered about turtles, it would seem imgp5528 Harry rolls around on some rocks imgp5529 The boys in Central Park imgp5530 Isobel looks out, with her coffee imgp5531 Nice building on the east of Central Park imgp5532 Fred leaps about imgp5533 There are one or two signs on the street imgp5534 We walk past the Metropolitan Museum of Art imgp5538 Harry pokes an ornamental pond imgp5539 Fred and Harry outside the Met imgp5546 Pigeons on a traffic light imgp5547 A very bright gold statue imgp5548 A tourist pony and cart imgp5555 Sometimes the tiny details can be interesting imgp5556 Looking down to Times Square imgp5558 Radio City Music Hall imgp5563 The view from Phil's office window imgp5565 The gang look out onto lower Manhattan imgp5566 The Empire State Building imgp5571 Looking towards Brooklyn imgp5572 In the Rockerfeller Centre basement imgp5573 Mosaic at the bottom of the Rockerfeller Center imgp5574 Radio City's neon lights imgp5575 Times Square imgp5576 Phil piles through the turnstyle in the subway imgp5580 Back at Millburn station imgc2568 Futter's in Millburn
