title Tangmere at Norwich Station, Norwich, Norfolk - 25th May 2013 intro We'd heard a "word on the street" at the Burston Crown that a steam train was coming through Diss, so wandered down to the station only to find it had been through two hours before. Instead, we headed off to Wroxham via Norwich for a birthday weekend, only to find that we were passing Norwich station at the time the very same train was due to head off on its return journey, so we spend half an hour watching the proceedings before continuing on to Wroxham. Train spot! The train in question is Battle of Britain class 34067 Tangmere, one of 110 "Light Pacifics" built between 1945 and 1950, many of which were named after things to do with the RAF, including this one, named after the airfield in Sussex. Before that, the destruction and rebuild of the Shell petrol station next to the office in Southwark continues. imgp1106 The hole where the tanks were is filled in imgp1109 The digger scrapes earth around imgp1111 A skip is filled up with stuff out of the shop imgp1112 The old tank hole is fully filled in imgp1113 A skip is full of old fuel pipes imgp1114 A Mark 1 coach in maroon moves up the platform imgp1115 Isobel, Harry and Fred on the platform imgp1117 34067 Tangmere and its RAF crest imgp1118 Tangmere is hauling the Fenman service imgp1120 Isobel shows Fred the footplate imgp1121 Steam and smoke swirls around imgp1124 More coal is loaded imgp1125 The futuristic lines of Tangmere imgp1126 Fred is unimpressed with the noise imgp1128 Tangmere's RAF crest imgp1130 The driver goes to tell people off imgp1132 An old dude is reprimanded for trespassing imgp1134 Another vintage - Class 90 90009 Diamond Jubilee imgp1137 Tangmere and Class 90 90009 Diamond Jubilee imgp1138 Isobel swings Fred around imgp1140 Isobel picks Harry up for a look imgp1143 Tangmere smokes the place up imgp1147 Train spotters wait on the opposite platform imgp1148 A guard looks out of the carriage imgp1152 Tangmere and The Fenman are under way imgp1154 The rake of Mark 1 coaches heads off imgp1155 More mundane DMU units wait at Norwich imgp1157 Spotters leave the station
