title A Visit to the Aquarium, The Barbican and Dartmoor, Plymouth, Devon - 10th June 2012 intro It's time for a trip to Devon, so Fred can see his relatives in Chagford and Spreyton, and everyone can get to meet Harry the baby, a.k.a Mister Cheese. After a night at a Holiday Inn outside Exeter and another with Sis and Matt in Chagford, we decide on the spur of the moment to get a hotel room on Coxside, opposite Sutton Harbour and the Barbican in Plymouth. From there, we explore the nearby National Aquarium and the rest of the Barbican, before returning to Chagford via a drive over the moor. imgp3470 The middle of Chagford in Devon imgp3471 Fred and Isobel walk down the road imgp3473 Isobel and Fred wander through the Lychgate imgp3474 Fred and Isobel wander past the churchyard imgp3475 St. Michael's Church, Chagford imgp3479 Fred, Harry and Grandma J imgp3482 Grandma J's lounge imgp3485 Mister Cheese kicks off imgp3486 The Barbican imgp3488 The new Mayflower building, where a bar used to be imgp3489 Isobel and Harry near the Mayflower Steps imgp3490 Another view, with more of the old Fish Market imgp3491 Isobel fights with bag and buggy imgp3492 A 1952 Ice Cream van on the Barbican imgp3493 Café tables on the Barbican imgp3494 The late John Dudley as a mural on Cap'n Jasper's imgp3496 Fred gets a go on some dude's motorbike imgp3497 Fred and Isobel roam around imgp3498 A rare actual fishing boat in Sutton Harbour imgp3499 Robert Lenkiewicz's painting is looking wrecked imgp3502 Peeling paint on Lenkiewicz's mural imgp3503 Isobel and Fred on Southside Street imgp3505 Kurt Perschke's Red Ball appears in Southside Street imgp3509 Some skateboarders get their photo taken imgp3518 Fred has a go at pushing the ball imgp3520 Fred thinks the cupcakes might be for him imgp3525 Crazy Red Ball action on Southside Street imgp3526 Southside Street and the Plymouth Gin distillery imgp3527 Looking back down Southside Street imgp3528 Yachts where the fishing boats used to be imgp3529 Fred points at a fish in the pavement imgp3533 Flying fish in an atrium imgp3534 Fred in the Coxside Cark Park lift imgp3535 We eat fish and chips on the Barbican imgp3536 Time for a beer outside The Ship Inn imgp3537 Fred makes Lego in the Ship Inn, as Isobel looks on imgp3539 A poster is taken down imgp3542 Down at Coxside imgp3543 The Coxside Premier Inn hotel room imgp3547 An almost-invisible flat fish imgp3548 Wavy sea anemones imgp3557 A shark and a ray in Plymouth Aquarium imgp3558 Fred helps out with one of the demonstrations imgp3574 Delicate tendrils on a jellyfish imgp3578 A fish swims around imgp3583 Some sort of sea creature imgp3593 Another marina in Cattewater Harbour imgp3596 Fred the Head imgp3598 Isobel does some texting as Fred has a slurp imgp3600 Cattewater Harbour imgp3601 A stripey yellow fish imgp3611 One of the pleasure cruisers comes in imgp3613 A lifeboat turns around to tow a boat out imgp3618 The Red Ball has moved along to White Lane imgp3620 Isobel with the buggy on Southside Street imgp3622 We stop for a pasty at the Barbican Pasty shop imgp3623 A road too narrow for cars has double yellow lines imgp3624 Isobel and Harry in a chip shop imgp3630 Fred stands by the wall near the aquarium imgp3635 A tangle of fishing boats, on Coxside imgp3636 Very fine fishing nets and floats imgp3638 A pile of old nets, and some derelict machinery imgp3639 A clear view through the melĂ©e of boats imgp3640 A runner nears the end of a 32 mile slog imgp3641 The gloom that is Dartmoor Prison in Princetown imgp3643 Fred has a doze in the back of the car imgp3644 A Dartmoor view imgp3650 A stone wall imgp3655 A farm gate on Dartmoor imgp3656 Standing stones imgp3658 Warren House Inn on Dartmoor imgp3666 Dartmoor sheep imgp3667 A Dartmoor roadblock with sheep
