title Corofin, Ennistymon and The Burran, County Clare, Western Ireland - 27th October 2006 intro It's the day after Caroline and Chris's wedding and Nosher and Isobel, with Gary and Vanessa, who are cadging a lift to Limerick, head over from the hotel on Spanish Point to a B&B in Corofin. We stop off in the small town of Ennistymon for breakfast at the Sugan Chair café and follow that with a brief look around the town, before driving around The Burran - an interesting, bleak, Dartmoor-esque region in County Clare, followed by a look at the sea near Ballyvaughan. Whilst we're in Corofin, we discover that we're not that far from the location used for the outside of Father Ted's house, which is somewhere vaguely near the village of Killnaboy. After something of an epic trek down ever-narrowing lanes, we finally find the actual house in the drizzle. imgp8337 Isobel and Vanessa chat, fed by cans of "Club Orange" imgp8338 Modern social interaction, via the mobile phone imgp8341 Outside the Sugan Chair imgp8344 Milling around outside the Sugan Chair café imgp8348 The river surges by the aptly-named Cascades imgp8350 Isobel watches the frothing river imgp8353 Blake and Linnane: two closed shops in Ennistymon imgp8356 A derelict hut, and a sign for a post office imgp8358 Peeling red paint on corrugated iron imgp8359 The quaint, but abandoned, Ennistymon Post Office imgp8361 A painted shop imgp8362 Isobel roams around near derelict buildings imgp8365 Isobel stands about imgp8366 Discarded pallets imgp8369 An abandoned Massey-Ferguson 165 tractor imgp8373 Buildings by the river imgp8374 Wandering around Ennistymon imgp8375 A derelict house imgp8376 Walking up that hill imgp8377 Inside a derelict chapel on the top of the hill imgp8381 A view over Ennistymon imgp8382 Rows of houses imgp8386 Derelict chapel on a hill imgp8388 A very rusty iron railing imgp8389 Isobel walks past the Ennistymon Spar imgp8390 More peeling paintwork imgp8391 A fruit and vegetable stall imgp8392 Ennistymon street life imgp8393 The first view of the Burran imgp8395 A derelict chapel imgp8396 The derelict chapel houses some artefacts imgp8399 Isobel inspects her feet imgp8407 Animal feeders and a pile of pallets imgp8408 A graveyard imgp8409 We discover a partially-excavated alien fossil imgp8411 A small window lets in some light imgp8412 Isobel and Gary say hello to a dog imgp8413 A derelict building imgp8418 An imposing haunted shell of a once-grand house imgp8421 Road sign to Ennis and Lisdoonvarna imgp8422 Walking a Burran road imgp8429 Cows on a hill imgp8433 Cows silently observe Nosher taking photos imgp8436 More cows on the Burran imgp8437 A line of shifty cows watches from the distance imgp8444 Loosely-packed stone walls imgp8445 A track runs off to the horizon imgp8447 More gloomy cows on the windswept moor imgp8452 A solitary boat imgp8456 Cute little cottages at Ballyvaughan imgp8460 Gary stands on the sea wall imgp8464 Gary walks along the sea wall imgp8471 Vannessa giggles in a "pretend to be in a band" photo imgp8472 The sea at Ballyvaughan imgp8474 Gary and Vanessa imgp8476 A seafood pub at Ballyvaughan imgp8477 Gary goes abseiling over the breakwater imgp8478 A tangle of rope imgp8480 A blue rope imgp8481 Along the coast road, there's a small lighthouse imgp8484 Gary stands, watching, on the top of a cliff imgp8605 Breakfast back at the B&B imgp8606 The lurid orange of Bofey Quinn imgp8607 Isobel stands outside a pub in the damp imgp8608 The main street of Corofin imgp8609 Cake is eaten imgp8612 More cake is cut imgp8613 A couple of cats sit in a window imgp8614 A ton of wedding cake imgp8615 Father Ted's house! imgp8616 Vanessa and Isobel outside Father Ted's house
