title Shakespeare at St. John's, Parker's Piece and the A14's Worst Day - 17th July 2006 intro Isobel and Nosher meet up with Francis from work for a spot of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in the grounds of St. John's College, Cambridge, on a gorgeous balmy summer's evening. Several days later, Nosher and Isobel have a picnic on Parker's Piece, where there are several kickabouts going on in the evening sun, then at work, a giant moth appears in the office upstairs. About a week later, Nosher is stuck for a thousand hours on the A14 near Newmarket as a van carrying fuel canisters catches fire 100 metres away from the Rowley Mile BP service station on the three-lane bit of the A14. OK, so it's potentially major, but as usual The Man over-reacts by closing off the A14 for about 10 miles in both directions. So, with nothing better to do, it's time to climb out and sit on the roof of the car for a few hours and wait it out as a one-hour commute turns into five. imgp4704 A 6cm moth lands in the upstairs office at work imgp4706 Isobel rustles up a stir-fry imgp4708 Some kind of abandoned dinner ends up in newspaper imgp4710 The A14 is hosed again imgp4864 The audience gathers in the grounds of St. John's imgp4865 The crowds wait for Shakespeare imgp4868 Francis and Isobel imgp4869 Picnic scenes in the grounds of St. John's College imgp4871 The Shakespeare audience imgp4873 The actors take a curtain call imgp4875 The performance is over imgp4980 Chasing a football on Parker's Piece imgp4984 More football action imgp4986 A game of footie takes place in Parker's Piece imgp4992 The Reality Checkpoint imgp4993 People on Parker's Piece imgp4994 Cranes loom over Cambridge imgp4995 More football on Parker's Piece imgp4996 The sun sets of Parker's Piece imgp5001 Church spires imgp5012 Construction cranes imgp5016 Motionless traffic on the A14 imgp5017 Stacked traffic imgp5025 The A14 is stationary for miles imgp5028 A dude on a phone, and a Post Kogeko driver imgp5030 People get out of their cars and just hang around imgp5032 The Post Kogeko heavy imgp5037 A whole line of heavies in the shimmering heat imgp5038 Sitting on the tarmac imgp5040 A line of vehicles imgp5041 Surveying the scene imgp5042 Looking back down the A14, towards Bury St Edmunds imgp5048 A police "spotter chopper" surveys the scene imgp5049 The sign says it all really imgp5050 The coppers cordon off huge swathes of road
