intro	There's been a splurge of post-Gateway/Somerfield supermarket building in Diss, with Safeway appearing in the 1990s (and with it the first ever set of traffic lights in Diss) and then Tesco appearing on the site of the old Rainbow Co-op on Victoria Road, more or less next door. These photos document much of the process from the demolition of Rainbow to the skinning of the Tesco "warehouse" structure. The Rainbow co-op was one of those things about Diss that took a while to discover, much like the way the nice part of the town is unusually hidden away from main road that goes through the edge of it, in that it didn't actually look much like a place that sold food - even though it did - as its front window always seemed to be full of garden furniture.
