title The Padres at Petco Park: a Baseball Game, San Diego, California - 31st May 2005 intro Nosher is in San Diego to help man a stand at the BREW Developers' Conference. Shortly after pitching up at the hotel after an 18-hour journey, it's time to head off to watch local baseball team the San Diego Padres take on the Milwaukee Brewers. Qualcomm provided both the entry ticket and a number of "beer vouchers" which were quickly used to buy beer and foot-long chili dogs with cheese, in that great US tradition of sporting-related health food. In the bleachers were Nosher, plus Nick and Stef from Cambridge, as well as Anwar from London and an assortment of other local Qualcomm employees. Dotted around the ground in the "royal boxes" were all the sales people, schmoozing customers. Luckily Nick happens to hold US citizenship and so actually understood what was going on, which helped. The game ended 8-4 to the Padres after an exciting late-innings comeback. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, it was the third-smallest crowd of the season at just over 23,000. imgp5725 The pitcher, er, pitches imgp5727 Petco Park, home of the Padres imgp5736 The crowds are ready for the game imgp5739 Nick, Stefan and Anwar up in the bleachers imgp5750 Brewers' No. 45 gets a ribbing from the crowd imgp5753 The peanut girl imgp5757 Some dude with drinks on his head imgp5760 The floodlights are on imgp5761 Nick and Stef head off for food imgp5763 The Western Metal Supply sign imgp5765 Tweet, from QIS San Diego, talks to Anwar imgp5766 Anwar and Stef trade places imgp5768 Stef holds up his ice-cream tub imgp5771 Nick brings some beers back imgp5774 The track is raked during an innings break imgp5779 Russell McHugh entertains a customer imgp5780 Some fans peer out over the sign imgp5782 A boy has brought his own catcher's mitt along imgp5784 The guy with the balloon hat imgp5789 A catch occurs imgp5790 Padres mascots entertain the crowds imgp5791 Some more scenes of the park imgp5800 Smoke from celebration fireworks lingers imgp5801 It's a standing ovation imgp5808 The teams shake hands imgp5812 Sal, one of the on-hand guides dotted around
