title A Trigenix Trip to the Sanger Centre, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire - 23rd April 2004 intro Nosher, Craig and Nick from Trigenix head over to the Wellcome Institute's famous Sanger research centre at Hinxton, just off the bottom of the A11 in Cambridgeshire. Once there, we meet up with former 3G Lab sysadmin Dave Holland, who's now helping to look after Sanger's world-class massive data centre - the UK home to the Human Genome Sequencing project, with half a Petabyte of storage. There are also some photos contributed from Nick's camera. dcp_9364 Craig looks at stuff dcp_9365 Craig, Dave and Nick in a machine room somewhere dcp_9368 Nick looks at a Switch dcp_9369 Craig, Nick and Dave chat between racks dcp_9371 The boys outside the Sanger Centre img_0179 Nick, Dave and Nosher dcp_9373 Nick looks at his camera dcp_9374 We wander off across the car park dcp_9375 The Sanger Centre dcp_9384 These are a step up from the usual "kettle leads" dcp_9387 Dave's colleague's up a stepladder dcp_9388 Dave's colleagure shows us a new Blade Server dcp_9392 A rack with hundreds of servers in it dcp_9398 Craig next to a 125kV power supply img_0181 Craig points to some massive storage device img_0194 Pallets of 1U servers, replaced by blade servers img_0198 Nosher takes a photo dcp_9401 Wandering the corridors of the data centre dcp_9402 We head off to the pub dcp_9404 Nick takes photos in the car park dcp_9408 Walking pass the conference centre dcp_9409 Hinxton Hall dcp_9413 On the path to the pub, with Hinxton Hall behind dcp_9414 The Hinxton Red Lion dcp_9415 Craig orders a Bitburger dcp_9416 We have a beer (or orange juice) in the garden dcp_9418 Food occurs dcp_9419 Nosher's new red hair img_0210 The purple hair again img_0211 Craig and Nosher at the pub dcp_9422 A dog comes up for a scrounge dcp_9423 Stomping back to Sanger dcp_9424 Standing by the back gate dcp_9425 A leafy view of the Sanger Centre dcp_9426 We inspect the site's backup generator dcp_9429 A lightning tree has been carved into a DNA spiral dcp_9430 Nosher hangs out by the front door
