title The Norwich Union Mail Coach Run, The Swan Inn, Brome - 15th June 1996 intro John Parker and his team of Hungarian grey horses commemorate the 150th anniversary of the last mail run from London to Norwich (in 1846). Much of the A140 is still on the original coaching route, and the Swan at Brome was one of the original stops. There's a great turnout for the event, and the entourage includes athlete Kris Akabusi. The whole run is completed after covering the 139 miles in a record-breaking 21.5 hours. scan-120503-0003 A poster advertising the Mail Run outside the Swan scan-120503-0002 Hanging around, waiting scan-120503-0004 Crowds hang around outside the Swan scan-120503-0007 A Town Cryer announces the arrival of the coach scan-120503-0008 The A140 slows to a crawl scan-120503-0013 The Swan in the summer sun scan-120503-0014 More milling throngs scan-120503-0015 Colin and Jill scan-120503-0016 DH, Wavy, Paul and Colin scan-130415-0042 Another crowd scene scan-120503-0009 The coach pulls in off the A140 scan-120503-0010 The coach and four enters the pub car park scan-120503-0025 John Parker and the mail coach outside the pub scan-120503-0027 John Parker and Kris Akabusi scan-120514-0027 Kris Akabusi signs Spammy's autograph book scan-120514-0031 Danny Flint meets Kris Akabusi scan-120514-0032 Danny Flint gets a pat on the back from Kris Akabusi scan-120514-0028 Hungarian grey horse scan-120514-0029 Kris Akabusi and the crowds scan-120503-0026 John Parker has a slurp of tea before heading off scan-120514-0030 The coach sets off scan-130415-0041 The coach heads off up to Norwich on the A140 scan-130415-0048 Spammy and John Willy are on the barbeque scan-130415-0047 John Willy turns a sausage
