title The Diss Raft Race, Diss Mere, Norfolk - 6th July 1991 intro As part of the carnival, there's a Raft Race on Diss Mere. Various teams assemble ramshackle craft and take to the Mere - one of England's deepest lakes- to battle it out in various, not always legitimate, ways. Nosher's next-door neighbour from Stuston, Jan, is representing as part of her work team, the Diss Ambulance station, with their craft "The Hoverlance". There are also a couple of photos from a quick trip to the Harbour Inn in Southwold, with Geoff and Brenda. scan-130110-0017 Jan stands proudly next to "Hoverlance" before the off scan-130110-0002 The BDR team paddle around the Mere scan-130110-0013 Frantic paddling, with a few overboard scan-130110-0014 More bobbing about on the Mere scan-130110-0019 More paddlers end up in the Mere scan-130110-0015 A banana/dragon boat paddles furiously scan-130110-0016 A firehose sprays the rafts scan-130110-0020 Jan and the ambulance team paddle around scan-130110-0021 The ambulance team throws buckets of water scan-130110-0022 A RIB powers around rescuing stragglers scan-130110-0018 At the end of the race scan-130110-0001 Jan looks a little wet scan-130110-0003 Geoff and Brenda at the Harbour Inn, Southwold scan-130110-0004 Boats on the river Blyth at sunset, Southwold
