The End of the First Year: Cromwell Street and others - 1986
After having left Beaumont Street (Nosher's first digs) on account of an unrequited infatuation, Nosher found himself at the other end of Plymouth in St. Judes on Cromwell Street. The house had just been done up with a couple of flats which initially Nosher and Andy "Dobbs" Dobie lived in, to be joined by Rik later. It was run by a squaddie out of REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers), based up the road near Derriford. This set also features some photos of a Catalina PBY Flying Boat, which had flown into Plymouth to celebrate the anniversay of the Curtiss NC-4 transatlantic flight in 1917 (I'm not sure what the 75 signifies in that case...). From the site: The NC flight plan called for a first leg of 864 km (540 mi) from the U.S. Naval Air Station at Rockaway Beach, New York, to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and then 736 km (460 mi) to Trepassey Bay, Newfoundland. The third, long leg of the flight, from Newfoundland to the Azores, was 2,080 km (1,300 mi). The fourth leg, 1,280 km (800 mi) to Lisbon, and the last, 1,240 km (775 mi) to Plymouth, England, brought the total distance to 6,200 km (3,875 mi).
