CB Radio Days - 1985
Yes, it's true - Nosher was into CB Radio. Where Nosher used to live, Barton on Sea on the south coast, there was a great little community of CB radioers. We'd meet up regularly in pubs or on the clifftop at Barton, and because the Isle of Wight was well within range, there'd be trips "abroad" to meet chums in Totland and Freshwater Bay. Nosher was introduced into CB by my mate Sean, who got me much of the gear for my first rig - a Maxcom 4E 4w 40-channel FM transmitter, and a Watt-pole "twig" (antenna). At some point Nosher picked up Hamish's old Amstrad 901, a base-station powered mic, decent power supply, SWR meter and other odds and sodds. Many hours were spent chatting away into the small hours about nothing in particular. Handle: "Golden Nugget", favourite channel: 05. There are also a few photos of the vineyard: it was around 5.5 acres and produced 10,000 bottles a year from Müller Thurgau grapes (plus another three varieties). Working on the vineyard was a summer job for Nosher, but Brian and Hamish were roped in for a few days...

Nosher prentending to own a Corvette. It was a 5.7 litre, and we'd sometimes go up to Hengistbury Head on a Sunday to a deserted car park and take it in turns to drive like lunatics - handbrake turns, power skids, etc. Mind you - I was still nearly 6 years away from getting my driving licence :-) |
