Almarc and Vector Graphic - the complete partnership in microcomputers Here's another straightforward advert from Vector Graphics' sole UK distributor, Almarc Data Systems of Nottingham. It shows nicely Vector's range of micros available at the time. They were all Z80-based and ran CP/M - the de-facto standard of the day. The first is the System 2800, which was a Vector 3 "console chassis" - the thing with a screen that looks like a terminal, because it was - with a Z80 single-board computer crammed into it. It was attached to a dual 8" floppy disk unit with a total storage of 2.4Mb. Next up is the System 3030. Once again, it's the Vector 3 console chassis, but this time it's attached to a Vector Megastor - a unit with a 32Mb Winchester disk as well as two of the smaller Shugart 5¼" "minifloppy" drives. Finally, there's the System "B" - a standard Vector MZ box, along with a delightfully-named "Mindless Terminal". There are no prices in this advert, but in the late summer of 1979, the System B was available for £2,850 - that's about [[2850|1979]] in [[now]].
