Micronetworks introduce PM1000

Here's a seemingly one-off advert for what also seems to be a one-off machine: the PM1000 from Micro Networks, of Pall Mall in London.

It's unusual because it's one of only a handful of micros which shipped with a portrait display, sporting an impressive 66 lines of 80-column text - an outcome thanks to its positioning primarily as a word-processing system.

It's also slightly unusual for the time in running the 16-bit Intel 8086 processor - the full version of the hobbled 8/16-bit 8088 that the soon-to-be-launched IBM PC would use. 

As well as the CP/M-86 operating system, the PM1000 also came with Microsoft BASIC and Micro Focus's CIS COBOL, along with its curiously-named P11CEON word-processing package.

Sadly, despite being "half the price of comparable systems", there's no price on the advert.
