The Commodore 64 is compact and nippy. But its memory... well that's a little different. Commodore was clearly milking the "elephants have a long memory" thing as this advert for the Commodore 64, first launched at the Hanover Computer Fair in April 1982, shows. It was one of several to use elephants in some form - including a controversial TV appearance featuring Maureen the circus elephant which landed the company in hot water at the end of 1984[source: "Commodore ads taken to tusk", Personal Computer News, January 12th 1985, p. 3] At launch, the C64 retailed for £299 - about [[299|1983]] in [[now]], but by the end of 1983 it was down to £229, or [[229|1983]] now.
