title Life Before Lockdown: A March Miscellany - 22nd March 2020 intro The massive Ash tree behind the garage/office has signs of die-back disease and fungus eating out one of its limbs, plus if it ever fell over it would do some major damage, and so it sadly has to come down. At the same time, the whole hedge along the field is sorted out. Then, Nosher's in Morissons in Diss to see the first signs of Novel Coronavirus-related panic buying, where it's true that for no apparent reason whatsoever people really have bought all the bog roll. After that, we're in Madgett's of Diss to get a new bike for Harry, and also manage to sneak in a final haircut before everything closes down. On the Sunday - the day before the full lock-down is announced - we go out for a bike ride with Harry's new bike, which is easy enough to do in a social-distancing style as there aren't many people around on Brome Avenue, even when things were normal. imgp0127 The big ash tree behind the garage imgp0131 The first limb is cut down imgp0135 A bit of tree trunk is hauled around imgp0146 Nick Bobby the tree surgeon is up the last bough imgp0148 The grabber machine does its thing imgp0150 The boys explore the new wood pile imgp0156 The gang run around inspecting the new log pile imgp0159 The remains of the tree imgp0160 Meanwhile, Morissons is out of biscuits imgp0161 It's also, more obviously, out of tinned food imgp0163 The lack of bog roll is a complete mystery imgp0164 Morissons café has been cordoned off as well imgp0165 The boys wait for a hair cut imgp0166 Fred gets a trim imgp0167 The boys in Madgett's Cycles imgp0168 The gang heads upstairs in Madgett's imgp0169 Fred looks at chunky tyres imgp0171 Harry gets a fitting imgp0174 Mick Madgett parks the bike up imgp0175 Harry has another test for size imgp0177 Beale's of Bournemouth's Diss branch closes down imgp0178 Road signs in the old council offices in Eye imgp0179 The camera takes its own photo inside the car imgp0183 Fred on a bike cycling through Brome imgp0185 Isobel and Harry pass the church imgp0187 The gang heads off through Brome Street imgp0191 Isobel and Fred wait for Harry imgp0194 Some late daffodils imgp0195 Fred cycles up Church Street in Eye imgp0196 Harry has a drink imgp0200 We eat a socially-distanced picnic in the grounds imgp0202 A horse walks up Church Street imgp0203 Overlapping photos look like computer graphics imgp0204 More crazy overlapping photos imgp0205 The overlapping photo result is interesting imgp0206 The Eye Guildhall imgp0209 Old bas-relief in the church walls imgp0210 Harry whirls around imgp0211 The church looms into the clear blue sky imgp0213 We head off imgp0215 An auctioned house near the castle imgp0217 The "perching falcons" on Victoria Hill imgp0218 Isobel and Harry cycle up Victoria Hill imgp0219 We stop near Grandad's imgp0222 We leave Grandad's after showing of Harry's bike imgp0223 A an old WWII bit of Eye airfield imgp0224 Fred waits on the B1077
